It’s currently the middle of July 2021, and preparations for the October Seattle workshop events are proceeding, and people are registering to attend.
Right now, we do expect to hold the Research Lecture, the Two-Day Workshop, and the Advanced Practice Day in person, face-to-(possibly masked)-face. In Seattle, about 75% of the population has been fully vaccinated against covid-19 already, and much of the social distancing regime has been relaxed; so things are looking pretty hopeful.
(Of course, we will be observing sensible precautions like, Please get the vaccine at least two weeks before the event. And, If you feel sick, then please stay home! And if you’re coughing, sneezing, feverish, or wheezing, we may urge you to get appropriate medical care — or at least, self-quarantine.) (And depending how things are in October, we may need to wear masks while indoors. Hopefully not; but we won’t know until we’re closer to October.)
But even though things look pretty hopeful now, we still might be forced to hold the event online, on Zoom, like in 2020. Some parts of the U.S. are experiencing surges in the rate of covid-19 infection that are again taxing the medical infrastructure. Some regions seem to be poised to resume social distancing strictures, in an attempt to slow the spread of the “Delta” variant of covid-19. If Seattle gets caught up in that, then we may have to have the event on Zoom to keep everyone safe. So, stay tuned for further developments.
To comport with this reality, I have updated the “Terms and Conditions” page — now renamed “Privacy, Cancellation, Refunds”. Basically, if we have to move the event online, that is not a cancellation. If for some reason (like low anticipated attendance — very unlikely) we have to actually cancel, we will refund all payments we received, less $15 to defray to PayPal fees we have to pay. (We’re basically splitting that cost, roughly half and half.) If you cancel your attendance a month or more before the event, we’ll refund your payment (less $15 to defray PayPal expenses). Closer to the event, less of the payment is refunded (because we’ll have incurred additional non-recoverable costs). Here’s the full refund table.
As always, if you have questions, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page. Stay safe, and we hope to see you in October, whether in-person or on Zoom.
